The Caribbean has an interesting feature that is when the rain is heavier in the rest of the country, this region enjoys its sunniest months, that is to say September & October .
The weather pattern is as follows: Dry- Jan-May, Driest- Sep/Oct, Wettest- Nov/Dec, Jun/July
One only has to be careful in Nov-Dec with occasional flooding. June although a wet month is a perfect time to see a variety of sea turtles with the leatherback nesting season (March through May) And the green turtles in July-Oct.
One could easily spend 2 or 3 days in the northern Tortugero Reserve area, and 2 to 3 in the southern coastal areas and the fairytale beaches. Heading inland for a visit with indigenous tribes could also be of interest. 4 days would make a good outline.
It takes about 3 hrs to get to Limon from the Capital on the Highway, and about the same to Tortuguero. One can also take a plane for a 30 min transport time.
